DLTK's Bible Crafts for Kids
Moses' Special Staff

I am a preschool teacher; my class is made up of kids 18 months to 3 years. I thought I'd pass on this idea I had that worked wonderfully with my class. Learning about any Bible character who carried a special staff (Moses and Aaron, for example) leaves room for this craft.

Materials:

• 2 paper towel rolls per child (or one long roll from gift wrap)
• several different colors of fingerpaint (I just used the basic six)
• a LARGE sheet of paper per child
• a smock for each child

Instructions:

• Tape the paper to the table and smock the kids 
• Explain the Bible story, whatever it is (Moses and Aaron for me) 
• Give each child a small dollop of paint in each color; put the dollops in a row 
• Give each child a paper towel roll and have them fingerpaint it, if they would like.
• Then roll the paper towel roll over the paint on the paper to rub the colors together. 
• Repeat with the second paper towel roll.
• Let the rolls dry overnight, then tape them together to make a staff.

I used masking tape and put their names on the tape.

I was AMAZED at how beautifully these turned out.  They looked like modern art when they dried!

The paper they use turns out really cool, too; I hung up my kids' paper because it was so pretty! Just another suggestion to add to your Moses projects. I used several of them, by the way; they're excellent!
