"He is Risen" Handprint Craft

Materials:
- "He is Risen" color template (provided)
- Yellow washable paint (or color of your choice)
- Paintbrush or sponge
- Plain paper (for practice)
- Picture frame (optional for gifting)
Instructions:
-
Preparation:
- Cover your crafting area with newspapers or a plastic sheet to prevent messes.
- Select and print the "He is Risen" color template you prefer or create your own artwork of the cross on Calvary.
- Pour the yellow washable paint (or another color) into a shallow dish.
-
Practice Run:
- Doing a practice print on plain paper can be helpful, especially for younger children, to get a feel for the hand positioning.
-
Creating the Handprints:
- Apply a thin, even layer of paint to one of your child's hands using the paintbrush or sponge. Ensure the palm and fingers are fully covered.
- Carefully press the painted hand onto the template with fingers extended outward to the side, creating one half of the sun's rays.
- Clean the first hand, then paint the second hand and stamp it on the opposite side of the template, mirroring the first handprint with the palms facing each other. This completes the sun's rays around the "He is Risen" text.
- Ensure each handprint is firmly pressed for a clear imprint, then carefully lift to avoid smudging.
-
Drying:
- Allow the artwork to dry completely. The drying time may vary based on the paint thickness and paper type.
-
Framing (Optional):
- Once dry, framing this beautiful handprint craft creates a precious keepsake or a heartfelt gift, particularly appreciated by grandparents.
Additional Tips:
- For children around age 5 with larger hands, the provided template may be too small. In this case, you can have the template enlarged at a print shop like Staples to accommodate the larger handprints.
This "He is Risen" Easter handprint craft is not only a fun and engaging activity for young children but also a meaningful way to celebrate the essence of Easter. The resulting artwork, with its radiant handprint rays, serves as a beautiful reminder of the season's joy and renewal.
Templates:
