Don't They Know

"The Lord hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee.  Thus saith the Lord the maker thereof, the Lord that formed it, to establish it; the Lord is his name; Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not."

Jeremiah 31:3, 33: 2, 3
King James Version

I was sitting at the desk in my office yesterday and l heard a noise so I looked out the window. One of my neighbors had come home but she didn't get out of the car right away. She opened the door and her dog came running up to greet her but still she didn't get out of the car.  The dog would run around in circles and come back and lick her hand and wait for her to get out of the car.  I think if the dog could talk this is what he was saying to her "Don't you know that I love you and want to spend time with you. Why don't you get out of the car and talk to me"?

If we will listen with our hearts, we will hear Jesus say to us "I love you and want to spend time with you. Why don't you talk to Me"? Like the woman in the car opening the door but not getting out, that describes the way that we sometimes treat Jesus. We tell Him that we want to spend time with Him and serve Him but we never do it. We are content to sit on the pew and let other people do it.

I was one of those people who sat on the pew and let others do the work.  I didn't think there was anything that I could do.  I certainly can't sing; at least not according to the world's standards. Jesus loves my singing because when I sing to Him, it comes from my heart.  I'm not a professional speaker or professional writer but I can write what He inspires and tell others how much Jesus loves them.

There is no excuse for any of us not serving Jesus because all of us can tell people about the amazing unconditional love of Jesus. All of us can hug someone for Jesus.  If you don't feel comfortable hugging someone for Jesus, ask Him to fill your heart with so much compassion and love that it will just be an automatic response to someone who is hurting and lonely. Do you know that Jesus loves you and is waiting to talk to you? Has it penetrated your heart that He loves you so much that He died for you or don't you care? Are you serving Jesus or are you serving satan?
