Thanks to St. John's Sunday School for contributing this recipe!

  • 1 1/2 cups sifted white flour
  • 1/2 cup sifted wheat flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 1/2 tsp sugar (if desired)
  • 3/4 tsp baking soda
  • 2 tsp shortening
  • 1/2 cup warm water

Preheat oven to 375 degrees.

Put all dry ingredients together.  Cut in shortening.

Gradually stir in the warm water until mixed.

Knead with hand a little bit.  Roll out onto a floured board.

Place on greased cookie sheet.  Bake for 12 minutes.

Time exactly 12 minutes as bread may burn.  Let stand until warm; then cut into squares.

The tuna we just mixed with mayo.  You may have other ingredients that you add.

Or, for something a little easier...

Thanks to Terra for this suggestion!

"I would like to share that on the lesson were Jesus feed five thousand with 5 loaves and 2 fish from a boys lunch, to show the children how much food that the boy had I used a can of whole sardines and dinner rolls and put it on a plate, the children were so amazed that Jesus was able to feed 5 thousand people with so little food, they had a better understanding of what a miracle it had been. One of the children gave thanks for the food and we shared it. Not everyone eat the sardines, but everyone did eat the bread."
