BIRTH AND A CHOICE

And Judah said unto his brethren, What profit is it if we slay our brother, and conceal his blood?  Come, and let us sell him to the Ishme-el-ites and let not our hand be upon him; for he is our brother and our flesh.  And his brethren were content.

Genesis 37: 26, 27
King James Version

Most of us know the story of Joseph.  We know that his father made Joseph a coat of many colors and his brothers were jealous and angry so they turned against him.  This is a lesson for parents not to play favorites with their children because it causes conflict between brothers and sisters.

Their father caused the conflict, but in the end Joseph forgave his brothers and embraced them.  We have no choice about our family when we are born.  However, we do have a choice to make about how we will treat our family.  We can choose to argue and fight, or we can choose to treat one another with kindness and love.

My sister and I used to fight terribly.  We made a choice to forgive one another and love one another.  Do I still get angry with my sister and does she still hurt me?  Yes, but it doesnt matter because I choose to love her no matter what she says or does.  Does my sister still get angry at me and do I still hurt her?  The answer is yes, I still hurt her.  The difference is we dont intentionally do it.  A lot of times we arent even aware we have hurt one another.

Are you still fighting with your brothers and sisters?  You need to make a choice to forgive and forget because you have hurt them also.  Please make the choice to love your brothers and sisters and treat them as Jesus would have you to treat them.  It will make Jesus happy.
