Our Last Day

“Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.”

Matthew 6: 19 – 21
King James Version

We don’t know when Jesus is coming back for us. I think if we did know when He was coming back, we would act and do things differently. I believe if we knew for sure that this day, today, is our last day to live, we would shut off the television and spend time with our families. We would pick up the telephone and call our loved ones and friends. We would fall to our knees and cry out to God with a broken heart for the salvation of those we love.

We get so involved in keeping up with the neighbors and making sure that our cars and homes are as good as their cars and homes that we buy things that we don’t even need. We do need the basics; clothes, shelter and food, but we don’t need to drive big expensive cars or have swimming pools just because everyone else on our street has them. We don’t need to live in a large expensive home that we can’t afford. There is nothing wrong with having all of these things unless we spend money that we don’t have and are unable to pay our bills.

Where is your heart today? Are you spending most of your time in prayer for your loved ones who are lost and without hope and without Jesus? You can’t take money and material things with you but you can take the people you have loved and give them to Jesus. Again, where is your heart today? Is it with Jesus or with the world? Who is the ruler of your heart, Jesus or satan?
