God's Food Bank

"Ho, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters, and he that hath no money; come ye, buy, and eat; yea, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price."

Isaiah 55:1
King James Version

Someone told me that he went to the grocery store last week and was going to stock up on groceries for a month so he could save on gas for his car.  He said "When I got to the store and saw that they had raised the prices on the things I like to eat, I couldn't believe it".  He told me that instead of buying the things that he liked and normally bought, he ended up buying things that he could cook which would last for two or three days.  If you do the grocery shopping in your family, then you can relate to his situation and understand how he felt.

It's true that things are getting more expensive but one thing that is free and will always be free is the blood of Jesus that He shed for our salvation.  It's not only free; it is impossible to buy it even if you had all the money in the world.  It is also impossible to do enough kind deeds to get you into heaven.  It is only through the finished redemptive work on the cross of Calvary that anyone can be saved and assured of a home in heaven with Jesus for all eternity.

The cost of gas keeps rising also but without gas we won't be able to drive our cars.  The same is true about Jesus; without His power in our lives we won't be able to serve Him. We must allow Him to keep our hearts recharged with the power of His Holy Spirit. All of us need to let Jesus recharge our hearts daily and sometimes hourly with His unconditional love, His compassion, His understanding and His forgiveness for our families and loved ones.  Thank God for the power of the risen Christ and for the free gift of salvation through His blood!
